Best Burger Ever !!

I  ♥ Burgers!! Burgers are my favorite and I just can’t live without during the summer. Nothing beats a fresh and hot homemade hamburger.  I have been experimenting with cooking burgers all summer, gas grill, open fire, pan fried and all were good, but I came across this recipe last week and all I can say is WOW.

Market 32 had a coupon for top sirloin at $2.77lb and being the frugal person I am, I had to get it.  My Sunday paper put 2 flyers by mistake, so I used both 🙂  I used my Kitchen-Aid grinder and ground up almost 4lbs.  I have never used it for beef before, I usually use it for my chicken sausage, and it worked beautifully.  When I follow a recipe for the first time, I always follow it exactly, no matter how odd it seems, and this recipe had some very odd things.

I preheated my oven to 450 degrees and started heating up my skillet pans.  It said to preheat a large cast iron skillet over medium-low heat for 5 minutes, which I did, but I have to admit, I was a bit scared, I have never done that before.  I raised the heat to high and added the oil and when it was hot, added the burgers.  It said to sear for 2 minutes on each side, which I did and then transferred to a roasting rack for the oven.  It said to cook for 8 to 9 minutes for medium-rare (145 degrees), but my rapid read thermometer gave me the right temp at 5, so I took them out and let them rest.  Every burger needs a toasted bun and I took out my home-made pickles.  All my taste testers anxiously waited around the kitchen island for the burgers to finish resting, done !!!

The comments were…… incredibly juicy, greasy (as any real burger should be), flavorful, and… absolutely fabulous.  I apologize for not posting a picture of the actual burgers I made, but I was afraid it would get cold.

You can find the exact recipe on the Food Network website.  This recipe was created in the Food Network kitchen 🙂  If you want a heads up whenever I post, subscribe to my free newsletter by entering your email at the very bottom of the page!
